Argentine Senators Debate Controversial Private Property Bill

In Buenos Aires, senators debated a controversial bill on private property protection. Representatives of social organizations, lawyers, and a former Peronist deputy expressed their rejection of the initiative. The Minister of Environment for the Province of Buenos Aires, Daniela Vilar, and the head of the ruling party's bloc, Patricia Bullrich, engaged in a sharp debate. The official majority plans to issue its opinion on the bill next week, but this decision depends on the support of dialogist blocs. The main debates were sparked by proposed changes to the law on land regularization for socio-urban integration and the elimination of restrictions for foreigners to buy land. Bullrich accused Vilar of using political slogans, while Vilar stated that the law is aimed at preventing fires to change land use. Lawyer Daniel Sabsay expressed concerns about environmental protection and urban development. Gervasio Muñoz, head of Tenants United, called the bill the most aggressive eviction law in Latin America. Former Peronist deputy Santiago Igonse said that provinces need financial support for road repairs, not a new law. Representative of the Bariloche Popular Neighborhoods Table, Luciano Celsi, noted that the new law advances the rule of law regarding access to basic services.
